Among the Stars Remake

AN: This is just a rewrite of an old story that I wrote some time ago, and so with a little more experience with writing, and a lot more ideas, I am going to take a break from my other story to just rewrite this one

Going to use a fuse of Starcraft, Halo, and Starwars elements to rewrite this

The Year is 2034, and the World is in turmoil.

World War 3 has broken out when the Old Warsaw Pact attacked the NATO Countries.

The War lasted for 4 long years, and came close to Nuclear Warfare, ending with the Warsaw Pact Defeat.

To assure that nothing like that happens again; the United States and the NATO Countries formed the UED or the United Earth Directorate.

Other Countries were soon pressured to join the Directorate, but there were those that refused to join and took to the stars.

Numerous Rumors and intercepted encoded transmissions told the story of how they became their own independent state, forming a military and government, calling themselves, the Dominion.

Thus, The UED decided to keep to itself, and see how long they could survive out there on their own, with no support from Earth.

So this is where we join the story.

[This is Dominion Command, Haven is under siege by UED Forces, this is not a drill, all Dominion forces respond]

[Roger that, this is Haven 156th Defense Forces responding]

[This is the 456th Battle Group; we are jumping in system now]

Several Hundred Dominion Ships winked in to the space around the Planet, there engines glowing hot as they maneuvered to engage the UED.

The ship named the DDF "Yamato"s engines glowed white hot as it accelerated to combat speeds.
Her Sister ship, the "DDF Musashi" was right along with her as the pair continued to power through the planets Gravitational pull

"Mam, Weapons at 98% Charge and standing by"

Jess gave the weapons officer a nod

"Fire when ready"

A few seconds later

"Weapons at 100% Charge, target selected, coordinates slaved to front batteries" the young officer reported as she typed away at her keyboard.

"Target Confirmed, weapons Hot, Firing!"

Jess looked up to the CDC, and was in time to spot her target; the FOF Tags identified the ship as the UED "Midsummer's Night".

The Yamato was armed with the latest in Plasma Technology, and sported a pair of SY-56 Godfried Plasma Lance Cannons.

The Large guns charged, before a bright purple lance of high powered energy shot forwards at 27 times the speed of light.

The Large Midsummer's Night was split, upper decks to lower decks, as the plasma lance entered through her nose, and exited at its central thruster.

The ship dipped, as small internal explosions crippled her structure, then she bulged and exploded in a brilliant flash as the nuclear reactors melted down.

"Ship Eliminated, cooling cycle commencing" The Weapons officer reported

Jess pulled up the Musashi on the Tac Net.

Jason's face appeared, as Jess nodded

"Going to need cover, can you assist?" She asked as he nodded

"Maneuvering in to defensive position" He said as the connection was cut.

The Smaller ship's engines once again glowed white hot as it maneuvered out ahead of the Yamato, providing cover.

"Enemy detected, FOF Tags identify ship as Judgment of Thunder" Jess radar officer franticly called as she send out distress signals to other ships.

"Roger that, Musashi Engaging"

Jordan observed the space before him, ships from both sides were engaged in heavy combat, the Midsummer's night was just destroyed, and he was itching for revenge.

"Sir, FOF Tags name the two ships as the Musashi and the Yamato" His radar officer shouted as Jordan nodded

"Sir! Thermal scans indicate that there was a recent plasma weapons discharge from the Yamato" His radar officer shouted.

"Bastards, hit the Yamato first, then the smaller ship" Jordan ordered as the crew scrambled to respond

"MAC Guns Charging, ready in 30 Seconds"

"Arming Portside Archer Missiles, Pods A-D"

"Enemy Weapons Charging!"

Jason looked to the CDC Screen, his thermal scopes telling him that the forwards MAC Gun battery was rapidly growing in heat.

"Full Power to Front Shields" Jason shouted.

In a pound for pound fight, the Musashi was out classed, the Judgment of Thunder was a Heavy Cruiser, while the Musashi was, in comparison, a light Frigate.

But it was much faster than the lumbering heavy cruiser, and needed a stronger power plant, thus, the shields are almost 100% more powerful compared to a similar system on normal nuclear reactors.

The Bridge dimmed, as power was rerouted from any unnecessary systems, to the shield generator.

A paper thin white wall materialized before the Musashi and Yamato

Just as the Judgment of Thunder was about to fire

"Weapons Hot!"

"Fire!" Jordan shouted as the Ship shuddered, the Massive MAC Guns propelling the Tungsten shells at 3 times the speed of light.

"Archer Missiles away!"

Several loud "pops" followed by the sound of their engines engaging as there onboard tracking packages tracked the enemy ship

The MAC Rounds soared straight and true, following the projected path towards the ships.
Until it met the shields

The rounds made contact with the shield, making it flash and waiver, but never fully give out.

The follow up Archer missiles did the same, the missiles detonating on the shields surface.

"Target hit …….But no damage, they had their shields up"

"Damn it" Jordan said as he slammed his fist down on the command table at his station

"My Turn, Arm all front batteries" Jason shouted as the Weapons officer nodded

3 Pairs of 57 Inch Cannons all turned towards the front and locked in to place, following the coordinates feed to the targeting computer.

"Load HE Shells"

The Shells rose from the armory nestled deep in the ship's hull, where they were loaded in to the gun tubes and primed.

"Weapons Ready!"

"Fire!"

The Ship shook as each pair of 56 Inch Cannons fired in turn.

One of the crew members wrote in white paint on one of the guns "ローリングサンダー, when translated to English, read "Rolling Thunder".

The 56 Inch shells were nowhere near as fast as the Judgments MAC Rounds, but they were just as deadly.

"Emergency Thrusters, Port Side!"

The massive Heavy Cruiser groaned in protest as the ship quickly changed direction, dodging majority of the shells

But several found its mark.

"SIR, DECKS A, G, AND F ARE BREACHED AND VENTING ATMOSPTHERE, COMMS ARRAY DAMMAGED! ARCHER PODS D – Z PORTSIDE UNRESPONSIVE!" The damage officer reported

"Get the Damage control groups on what they can fix, seal off those Decks now Ensign!"

"Hail the Freedoms Progress, we need back up, scramble fighters" Jordan shouted as the Command was given on the Loud Speakers

Like a swarm of Angry Wasps, the Broadsword Fighters of the Judgment of Thunder attacked the 2 Dominion Ships relentlessly.

By now the two ships had their point defense weapons online; the small turrets on the exterior of the ships began blazing away at any ship foolish enough to get close.

The Rapid fire laser turrets created an amazing light show as they fired at Broadsword fighters, which in turn tried to out maneuver the turrets.

Jason watched as a pair of Broadsword fighters were vaporized by a laser blast from one of the defense turrets.

But the Broadsword fighters struck back; firing a volley of 19 Inch Folding-fin self guided Missiles.

[Torch 1 Fox 3!]

His Rack of Missiles was jettisoned from the aircraft, all the projectiles ignited at once in a massive display of firepower, as they streaked towards their target.

Sadly for the Musashi, the Shield did not cover the lower or upper parts of the ship, only the front.
The Missiles guided themselves around the shields, over the top, or down under and up behind the shields.

Multiple detonations rang out as the Broadswords came around for another attack

"Damage Report!"

"Turrets, A, Y, X, E , K , and L are offline, comms array damaged, landing bay damaged, thruster 2 working at 56% due to damage" His damage control officer relayed.

[Hold on, help in bound]

All of a sudden, from behind him, a flight of Dominion Marked Viper Air Superiority Fighters darted over the top of the ship and fired a laser barrage at the returning Broadsword Fighters.

The Formation of UED Fighters broke as the Vipers pounced, as they mixed and mingled with the Broadsword Fighters.

"SIR, SECOND SHIP ENTERING THE BATTLE AREA! FOF TAGS INDICATE NAME AS: FREEDOMS PROGRESS"

Ryan watched as the 2 groups of small fighters mixed and mingled with each other
tracers and laser trails connecting many explosions.

"Prepare for combat, all personal to battle stations" Ryan shouted as people scrambled to answer the call to stations

"Sir, enemy ships detected, Dominion, One Frigate, and One Cruiser"

Freedoms Progress was a Battleship, compared to Jordan's Heavy Cruiser.

"Arm Forward Guns, slave Rocket's to follow the Guns Shells in on the same vectors"

"Aye"

Armed with the same amount of guns as the Musashi, they swiveled to rest pointing at the enemy ships.

But they were much larger, and were Rail Guns to boot.

Several beeps emitted from the Weapons Command Control Station as the Safeties on the guns were removed.

"Weapons Charging, 10 Seconds"

"Striker Missiles primed and ready for launch"

Striker missiles were like Archer Missiles…..Just about 2 times larger and way more explosive.

Ryan tapped a few keys on his keyboard, hailing the Judgment of Thunder

"Thanks for the Assist, I was in deep shit" Jordan said as Ryan tipped his Officers Cap

"Don't mention it, now let's get these guys" He said as Jordan nodded and cut the connection.

"Weapons Hot!" His weapons officer called out

"FIRE!"

The Ship shook as the Rail Guns propelled there ammunition at almost 12 times the light of speed.
They struck the shields, but unlike the MAC Rounds, had the velocity to overload the Shield systems.

Jason knew he was in trouble.

The shields were not rated for anything above 10 Times the speed of light.

The Shields dissipated as the Rail Gun rounds connected, making a path for the Striker Missiles.

"Weapons Detonation all along our hull sir!"

"Damn it! get those fires under control, and prepare to fire back!"

"Negative Sir! Reactor Coolant Tank damaged, we can't sustain 100% power, we must drop to 55% to avoid melt down!"

He quickly hailed the Yamato

"Your cooling cycle complete?" Jason asked as his Jess nodded

"Weapons are charging, standby"

"Direct Hit!"

"Ship Severely Damaged!"

Ryan nodded in satisfaction

"SIR YAMATO'S WEAPONS ARE CHARGING!"

He looked up just in time to watch the Purple Lance of light lash out and strike the Judgment of Thunders Portside thruster, knocking it out of commission.

But the Judgment responded with a volley from its MAC Guns, as the crew struggled to keep her stabilized.

They soared straight and true, scoring a hit on the Yamatos Communications Array and taking out several Point Defense guns.

Jess was trying to stabilize her ship when a garbled transmission filtered through her speakers

[Captain, this is Haven command, several Civilian Ships containing evacuees from the planet is going to pass through your AO, please advise]

Several small blips appeared on her HUD.

"Pelican" "Lady Liberty" "The Hornet" and "Maxwell" all were on rapid approach on her vectors

She needed to act quickly

"Arm Archer Missiles A-Z On Portside and Fire!"

"Roger that, weapons released!"

"New Ships entering the AO!" Ryan's radar officer shouted as he turned to her station

4 New ships, with No FOF tags were rapidly approaching his area, they appeared to be Unarmed, but you could never be sure.

[Command there is 3 unknown ships approaching our AO, Permission to engage?] Jordan called over the radio

[We have had reports of unknown Ships entering and exiting the AO, Stand By for orders]

"Missiles Launched!"

Sure enough, several hundred Small Red Triangles left theYamato and were heading towards the Judgment on his battlefield view screen

"Deploy Counter measures!"

Several Dummy Missiles laden with strips of metal, streaked out, past the crippled Judgment, and met the incoming Archers

They exploded and showered them with the strips of metal confusing them, and causing them to detonate

"Jordan, are you ok?" Ryan asked as Jordan's bloodied face appeared on the Tac Net Screen

"Yeah, but we cannot maneuver, I lost all power to aft portside thrusters, but I can still strike back" Jordan reported as he wiped blood from his forehead.

[Captain, this is Command, engage those ships, there have been reports of civilian transports
ramming UED Ships in suicide attacks, weapons free, I say again, weapons free]

[Roger that command]

"Sir…..THE FREEDOMS PROGRESS AND JUDGEMENT OF THUNDER ARE TARGETING THE CIVILAN TRANSPORTS" Her radar officer shouted in terror

Jason Quickly hailed the two ships, with no response

The Frantic Voice of the Captain of the Civilian transports could be heard over the public radio channels, as well as the UED Captains voices

[Civilian ships, this is Captain Jordan C of the Judgment of thunder, change course or you will be fired upon]

[Judgment, this is the Pelican, we have no other clear vectors, and are only passing through]

[Negative, change course or we will fire on you]

[We have nowhere else to go!]

[This is your final warning, change course or you will be destroyed]

[Please! I have wounded and families aboard! Hold your fire!]

Jess and Jason watched as the MAC Guns on the Judgment of Thunder Warmed to a dull red

[CHANGE COURSE OR WE WILL FIRE!]

[PLEASE! LET US THROUGH!]

Then the MAC Guns went white hot, as he charged them to 100%

"Oh…God" Her Comms Officer whispered

The MAC Guns thundered as the Judgment of Thunder fired, the MAC Rounds easily cut through the thin hull of the Civilian Transport.

Jason had been quietly reloading and he fired at the same time, the 56 Inch cannons spewing out there shells at the same time as the MAC Guns.

But it was too late

The Pelican listed forwards, fires dotting her hull. The MAC Rounds had tore through her midsection, damaging the protective seal around the Nuclear Reactors onboard.

"Lady Liberty" and "Hornet" tried to run the gauntlet behind the damaged "Pelican", it was a bad choice

Freedoms Progress engaged the "Lady Liberty" putting a Rail gun slug through her nose.

The Hornet was pounced on by the Remaining Broadsword Fighters, after destroying the Vipers they were back in the fight.

Multiple missile strikes on the ship's hull took its toll as it started to creak and groan in protest at the speeds the captain tried to push the ship.

It eventually stopped as it took to much damage, the fail safes shutting the ship down

Ryan watched the 3 ships burn, the 4th ship got the message and changed course.

[Captain, this is Command, fall back, Randomize Vectors and get the hell out of there, a massive Dominion Fleet is inbound]

[Roger that Command]

"You get that Jordan?" Ryan asked as Jordan nodded.

"Calling back my remaining Broadsword Fighters" Jordan replied

The Space around the 2 UED Ships warped and bent as they activated there Shaw-Fujikawa Slip Space drives.

The 56 or so UED Ships began to jump out of system, leaving at 34 destroyed ships of their own behind.

The two large Ships were sucked in to slip space in seconds, buffeting the other ships with a shockwave.

[Enemy ships have left the Combat Area]

[Yeah that's right! Run!]

"Is there any contact from the Pelican?" Jess asked as her comms officer shook her head

"No contact, and scanners are not picking up any life forms in the wreckage of the Pelican, all hands were lost" the officer responded as tears dropped from her face.

Jason's face appeared on the overhead screen

"Hornet was also lost with all hands, but the Lady Liberty had the chance to launch escape pods, we are gathering survivors as we speak" Jason reported as he took his Captains cap off, and ran his hand through his regulation cut hair.

"Are you ok?" He asked as she nodded in response

"I'm fine, how about you?" She responded

"The Ships little banged up; those Strikers got me good, but other than that, no casualties"

"We need to help with recovery operations, rally the battle group" She called as Jason saluted and he disappeared from the display.

She watched the Musashi ignite its engines and power towards the wreckage of the "Hornet" making a second scan for survivors

"The UED Has made a grave mistake" Jason said as he watched the screen for signs of life

"They woke up….."

"…….The Sleeping Giant"
